Anna's Convocation, June 15, 2012

Today was the highlight of our trip to New York. We came here for Anna's convocation from the American University of Antigua (AUA), College of Medicine.
The ceremonies were held at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. My cousin, John, drove us there and he left his car with us, in case we needed it later during the day. He had to go to his office to meet with his boss who was going back to Chicago.

The Emcee for the Ceremony was Dick Woodward, AUA SVP for Enrolment Management and CEO.

Dr Peter Bell, AUA VP for Global Education & Executive Dean, Clinical Services
The Guest Speaker, Congressman Elijah E Cummings of Maryland, gave a very inspiring and entertaining talk.
The late Dr Rafael Olazagasti was honored with a Scholarship created in his name
The Alumni Speaker was Dr Ehsan Esmaili, one of the first AUA graduates, who just completed his residency in general surgery. Next month, he will begin a fellowship in hand an microvascular surgery at the University of Connecticut.
That's our Anna.
Starting to go up to be hooded and to receive her diploma. They were arranged according to the last name so she was in the last row.

Being hooded/collared.
A very proud moment for all of us - Anna receiving her diploma.

My niece, Bianca, met up with us while we were having lunch at an Italian restaurant. After that, Anna and Bianca picked up cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery.
Then we had gelato at Bomboloni, where Anna & Bianca bought Italian doughnuts for take-out.
A beautiful building in front of the gelato place.
Nice bus
Big old lock with the key (???)

Mikey (L) did not seem that interested in the sake bomb. I think he was hungry and thinking of his sashimi dinner.

The sake bombs are almost ready.
