My schedule seems to be lighter this month. On December 8, Thursday, I did not have any Lodge or Committee Meeting so my wife, Sister Mae, and I were able to attend the Regular Meeting of Queen Winnipeg Chapter, OES at the Eastern Star Chalet.
It was a bit cold but there was a good number of Sisters and Brothers at the Meeting. My good friend, the Worthy Grand Patron (WGP), RWB Bruce Burke, was there along with other Grand Chapter Officers. The Chapter was honoring its Members who are Grand Chapter Officers. Our Worthy Matron (WM), Sister Jean Hutchinson, is the Associate Grand Matron and one of our Past Matrons, Sister Lynda Benson-Saunders, is the Grand Organist. They have both represented Queen Winnipeg Chapter very well.
Through facebook, I found out that WGP Bruce is celebrating his 'ty-seventh birthday that day. During the Good of the Order, I informed the WM about WGP Bruce's birthday. She then asked everyone to sing "Happy Birthday".
During the Refreshment Hour, there was a silent auction. Sister Mae bought some tickets and one of those was drawn. She won a box of chocolates, a pack of soap and a bottle of red wine. Lucky Lady!
It was great to be back in Chapter and be with the Sisters and Brothers to greet them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
It was an excellent Meeting and the fellowship was wonderful. Sister Mae and I are looking forward to attending Chapter again sometime soon. Maybe next time, our daughter, Sister Anna, will also be able to attend.
